Keeping your DSLR Sensor clean when changing lenses

By Crooked Imaging | Jul 1, 2010

With a film camera, you effectively have a new sensor every time you take a picture. With a digital camera the same sensor is used for every shot. This is not really a problem with a sealed compact, fixed-lens digital camera. But with single lens reflex cameras (DSLR’s), taking lenses on and off the camera, usually leads to the sensor becoming contaminated. This means it is most important to adopt a ‘dust aware’ approach to your photography.  These can include changing lenses out of ‘Dirty Air’, making sure the back of the lens is dust free before fitting it to the camera and keeping the camera upside when changing lenses.  We do have products available that can make a ‘Clean’ lens changing area if you have no choice but to change the lens in a dusty environment.  Taking these precautions can reduce the need to clean the camera sensor.

Don’t like neck straps? The Black Rapid R-Strap might be the answer….

By Crooked Imaging | Apr 23, 2010

Crooked Imaging are now stocking the new R-Straps from Black Rapid and we think they are great!   They are comfortable, easy to use and allow super fast shooting.  There are a number of options available from just a basic strap through to a configurable system that you can add extra storage pockets and even a dual camera system.  It is a very simple design and it just works.  Simon has been using one for a couple of weeks and loves it so if you have any questions about its operation or why you need one just give him a call.

There are a number of designs in the pipeline and the closest to release should be the introduction of the female version of the strap.  It is shaped to be more comfortable for the female user and fit between the bust so should be super comfy.  If you are interested in this item drop us an email and we will let you know as soon as they arrive in the UK.
